Known Scams Purporting to be from the Church of Uganda

  1. Scam: Rev Kasule Martin from Buziga Church of Uganda (P.O. Box 27327, Kampala). The letter states, "Buziga Church of Uganda is an Anglican church which was established in 1960 at Buziga by the Archdiocesan administration of Church of Uganda."
Truth: There is no Buziga Church of Uganda. Yes, there is a church in Buziga (Namirembe Diocese), but it goes by a different name, and there is no priest in the Namirembe Diocese by the name of Kasule Martin.

  2. Scam: Someone is writing and impersonating the current Archbishop - Henry Luke Orombi - and the former Archbishop - Livingstone Mpalanyi Nkoyoyo. The request comes in the form of an e-mail stating that either the wife or a son is in need of medical care in South Africa and is requesting funds to travel to South Africa for the medical treatment.
Truth: The wives and children of the current and former Archbishops are in good health and have no plans to travel to South Africa for medical treatment.

  3. Scam: Someone is writing and impersonating Bishop Jackson Matovu of Central Buganda Diocese. The request is an appeal for funds for Grace Mayombwe (or someone by another name) to attend the Buwere Divinity College in Central Buganda Diocese in order to minister to the deaf.
Truth: Bishop Jackson Matovu is not sending out this letter. Please disregard all appeals similar to this one and let the sender know that you know this is a scam.
